Art & Writing Contest
The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust, in cooperation with the Georgia Department of Education, conducts an annual statewide art and writing contest for middle and high school students. The contest, sponsored by Novartis Pharamacutical Company, encourages students to learn the lessons of the Holocaust and the nature and repercussions of unchecked hate and prejudice taken to their ultimate extremes.

More than fifty years have passed since the end of the Second World War and the Holocaust, yet the events of this time continue to be of great significance to people the world over. Yad Vashem
"Unto Every Person There is a Name"
Every time an oppressed person anywhere in the world seeks protection in the institution of human rights, every time someone bases an argument on the existence of a universally binding body of human rights law, that individual of whatever color, creed, or nationality, owes a debt to the memory of the Holocaust Christopher J. Dodd, The Holocaust and American Education
"The world is too dangerous to live in, not because of the people who do evil, but because of the people who sit and let it happen." Albert Einstein:
Rev. Martin Niemoeller, a pastor in the German Confessing Church,
who spent seven years in a concentration camp:
"First they came for the Communists, and I did not speak up-
because I was not a Communist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak up-
because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak up-
because I was not a trade unionist.
Then they came for the Catholics, and I did not speak up-
because I was a Protestant.
Then they came for me--and by that time, nobody was left to speak up."
