The Georgia Council on the Social Studies (GCSS) hosts an annual conference. The 2016 conference will be held at the Classic Center in Athens on October 13-14, 2016. A large number of teachers from across Georgia participate in over 100 concurrent sessions and visit the exhibit hall filled with social studies resources.

The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust will be presenting a session titled "Holocaust ID Cards Activity: Translating Statistics into People". The session will provide methodology for an activity which utilizes a set of ID cards adapted from the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Each ID card profiles a real person alive during the Holocaust. This session and the materials provided will allow teachers the opportunity to present the definition and major events of the Holocaust within the historical context. It will also provide an overview of guidelines for teaching about the Holocaust which educators can apply to their unit or lesson plan.

All attendees will receive a free activity set for their classroom.

It is free admission to the session but attendees must be registered for the conference.
