Holocaust Learning Trunk Project launched in Gainesville
20 October 2011 - The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust launched two trunks from the statewide Holocaust Learning Trunk Project at South Hall Middle School in Gainesville, Georgia.
One trunk was decorated by students at The Weber School and one trunk was decorated by students at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Upper School. Special guests included Lieutenant Governor Casey Cagle, Representative Carl Rodgers, and Senator Butch Miller. Georgia Commission on the Holocaust Executive Board Members Chairman Michael Altman, Vice Chairman Russel Weiskircher, Treasurer Joe T. Wood Sr., and Holocaust Learning Trunk Project Chairman Steve Sutton were also present for launch of the trunks.
General Weiskircher spoke to the students about his experience liberating Dachau.
