DESCRIPTION:The Georgia Commission on the Holocaust is proud to present the
  display of its exhibit series \"Fashioning a Nation: German Identity and 
 Industry\, 1914-1945\" at the Anne Frank in the World: 1929-1945 exhibit
  in Sandy Springs.The exhibit will be on display until May 1\, 2017. Admi
 ssion is free. Please click here for hours and closings. \n\n\n\nThis ex
 hibition explores the powerful history of German fashion from its internat
 ional impact to its destruction by the Nazi regime. It honors the legacy o
 f the Jewish Germans who contributed to its rise and commemorates the grea
 t cultural and economic loss resulting from its demise.\n\nBeginning in th
 e late 19th century\, contributions made by Jewish Germans in the realm of
  business\, design\, photography\, and journalism were integral to the suc
 cess of the German fashion industry. There was no German fashion without J
 ewish Germans. The exhibition uses fashion as a lens to not only examine 
 a particular period of history but to study German identity and industry

 \, was hosted in cooperation with Goethe-Zentrum Atlanta and included a p
 anel discussion moderated by Executive Director of the Georgia Commission 
 on the Holocaust\, Sally N. Levine. The panelists were:Dina Gold – Gran
 ddaughter of Herbert Wolff who owned the H. Wolff fur company\, one of the
  most successful international businesses in Germany and author of the boo
 k Stolen Legacy: Nazi Theft and the Quest for Justice at Krausenstrasse 1
 7/18\, BerlinUwe Westphal – Berlin-based journalist and author of Ehre
 nfried & Cohn - Goodbye Berlin: The Last Fashion ShowChristopher Charlton
  – Grandson of the owner of the S. Adam clothing store in BerlinSarah P
 hillips Collins – Professor and Associate Chair of Fashion at Savannah 
 College of Art & Design in Atlanta\n\nBeginning in May 2017\, the exhibit
  will be available for loan to communities and schools throughout Georgia.
