Sep. 2, 1944 The occupants of the Secret Annex are assigned to a transport from Westerbork transit camp to Auschwitz extermination camp.
May 2, 1945 German units surrender to Soviet forces in Berlin.
Apr. 30, 1945 Soviet troops liberate the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Hitler commits suicide in his bunker in Berlin.
Apr. 29, 1945 U.S. forces liberate the Dachau concentration camp.

Apr. 12, 1945 The 2nd Canadian Division liberates Westerbork transit camp in the Netherlands.
Apr. 11, 1945 U.S. forces liberate Dora-Mittelbau and Buchenwald concentration camps.
Apr. 9, 1945 Auguste van Pels, one of the inhabitants of the Secret Annex, is deported from Raguhn (a subcamp of Buchenwald, Germany) to the Theresienstadt "camp ghetto." It is believed she died en route or shortly upon arrival.
Apr. 4, 1945 U.S. forces liberate Ohrdruf, a subcamp of Buchenwald.
Jan. 29, 1942 Anne Frank's maternal grandmother dies of cancer.
