Holocaust Learning Trunk Project launches in Barrow County
Two trunks from the statewide Holocaust Learning Trunk Project were launched at two middle schools in Barrow county.
One trunk was launched at Westside Middle School. Stan Lefco, whose father was a Holocaust survivor, shared his family's story with students and faculty.
A second trunk was launched at Russell Middle School. Sandra Craine, daughter of Holocaust survivors, shared her family's story for the first time to a public audience. Special guests included House of Representatives Chairman Terry England and Senator Frank Ginn.
Barrow County Superintendent Dr. Wanda Creel, Westside Middle School Principal Eli Welch, and Russell Middle School Principal Rob Johnson were present to accept the trunks on behalf of the Regional Service Education Agency (RESA) Northeast District.
The trunks were decorated by art students at Mount Vernon Presbyterian Upper School in Sandy Springs.
